About the Author -Ann M. Jones-Cheatham

Ann M. Jones-Cheatham is a retired Contract Administrator for the largest Health Care Workers Union in the country; 1199 SEIU. She is a poetess and community activist, and on July 9th, 2011she received a proclamation for her work from the honorable assemblyman Leroy Comrie. Her activist work continued with the African Poetry Theatre, Cambria Heights Civic Association 1992-1993, National Council of Negro Women from 2000-present, the Aids Center of Queens 1996-1997, and numerous other programs that help to serve those in need during the Holiday Seasons. Ms. Cheatham is the founder of bring a Toys for Tots Kwanzaa program which began 15 years ago and still continues today. She also served as board chair of the African Poetry theatre for 6 years.
